Who we are

The Skye Serpentarium was opened in 1991 by Catherine and Alex Shearer as an exhibition and educational centre, over the years we have gradually become a refuge for unwanted and illegally imported reptiles. We have been featured on BBC, Scottish & Grampian television and have won several awards. Catherine is an experienced herpetologist and has helped rescue over 600 abandoned or rescued reptiles and amphibians. There are over 50 animals on display from White's Tree Frogs to Large Green Iguanas. Catherine, Alex, Billy or an experienced member of staff is always in attendance and frequent snake handling sessions are held.

Stop for a bite

Our Coffee Shop "The Watermill", which is adjacent to the Serpentarium, is now in its 7th year. We have ample parking for bikes, cars and coaches and will provide food to eat in or take away. Our repeat visitor count is high due to the fantastic coffee and great home baking - we do try to keep it that way.

Sponsor an Animal

Want to sponsor an animal? We have been running our sponsorship scheme since 1998 as costs soared and we took in rescued reptiles. Our thanks go to all who have helped us. You can do a corporate sponsorship or can sponsor as an individual or group.

All help is very much appreciated. Click Here to visit the sponsorship page.

Donations are always welcome.
